Xiaomi Mi Scale

By Michael S • April 1, 2015 • News

Air purifier, power bank, smart light bulb, television, activity tracker, these are just some of the plethora of things Xiaomi sells. Just a day ago, Xiaomi announced the Mi scale, a smart weighing scale, at their 5th anniversary event.

Boasting white top tempered glass, the Mi Scale detects weight changes with up to 100g precision. It can measure 5kg up to 150kg and syncs wirelessly via Bluetooth 4.0 on compatible Android and iOS devices.

The graphical LED comes on during weighing in and adds a touch of class to the Mi Scale.  Together with the Mi Fit app, the smart scale can track weight and BMI and display all that information on compatible smart phone devices.

At RMB 99 or the equivalent of about 16 USD, the price is the most jaw dropping feature of the Xiaomi Mi Scale. Xiaomi has always prided itself on delivering value for money products but it makes you wonder if the company is making money off its hardware at all. If the Mi Scale follows in the footsteps of the Xiaomi Mi Band, I’m sure we can expect good things.

The date of availability of the Xiaomi Mi Scale has not been confirmed as of press.
