Victorinox I.N.O.X. Cybertool

By Michael S • February 28, 2016 • News

With the wearable tech and Internet of Things (IOT)  buzz, it’s no wonder that traditional watch companies such as Tag Heuer, Breitling and even Fossil have infused tech into their time pieces. Just a week back, Victorinox announced their collaboration with Acer to introduce wearable technology into their product line. Victorinox Swiss Army is a company more well know for their Swiss Army pocket knives; those nifty tools that does about everything from opening canned food to cutting ropes and filing nails on camping trips. The maiden product from this partnership, the Victorinox I.N.O.X. Cybertool, comes in the form of a smart accessory for the rugged I.N.O.X. watch collection.

The I.N.O.X. watch collection is Victorinox’s strongest watches to date; it resists water, temperature, shocks and pressure. Needless to say, it’s the perfect candidate to consider for tech infusion. Rather than re-inventing the wheel, the new Victorinox smart accessory is designed as an add on for the I.N.O.X. watches.

At just 24 grams, the Victorinox I.N.O.X. Cybertool is made from high density TPU (thermo-plastic Polyurethane) which clips on the  I.N.O.X. watches, allowing the user to still view the original watch display.

With a diameter of slightly more than 5cm,  you can be sure the I.N.O.X. Cybertool will add significant size and thickness to a standard I.N.O.X. watch.

With a IPX7 water resistance rating the splash-proof I.N.O.X. Cybertool will fare decently for exercise and sports purposes. Press videos suggests that the ring display is capable of stopwatch functionality, smart notifications, and tracking stats such as steps, distance, calories and active minutes.

Battery life is rated at one week and the I.N.O.X. Cybertool will eventually have its own smartphone app for both iOS and Android platforms in due time. The I.N.O.X. Cybertool is also capable of shining light on the I.N.O.X. watch display for viewing in the night or low light conditions.

Victorinox is hedging on their flagship I.N.O.X. watch collections to start off an entire line of accessories that includes the I.N.O.X. Cybertool. It’s a safe bet, one that builds on the consumer’s need to differentiate and accessorise.

At present, both price and availability of the I.N.O.X. Cybertool  have not been confirmed.
