Silent Alarm for Basis Peak

By Michael S • July 26, 2015 • News

I’ve waited an eternity for the silent alarm feature which I lamented about during my review of the Basis Peak back in December 2014. The Basis Peak was a quantum leap over its predecessor and was a first product to be released after Basis was bought over by Intel. While the fitness tracker watch was good, it lacked the polish to be awarded the status of great.

Just this week, Basis finally updated the Peak with the silent alarm feature, something which is considered ubiquitous by trackers of today. The silent alarm feature can be set right from the Basis Peak watch and the vibrations get progressively stronger for those of us who are heavy on the Zzz. Another interesting feature is that the vibrations are synced to your heart beat.

It’s been nearly a year since the release of the Basis Peak and the price has dipped slightly. It is still a stellar piece of fitness tracker that puts many others on the market today to shame. It is also one of the few fitness trackers to feature REM sleep tracking, the other being Jawbone UP3.

Now if they could just improve the app appearance. Just saying.

List of features of the Basis Peak:

  • Tracks steps, cycling, sleep, calories
  • Smart Phone notifications
  • Transmits heart rate data to 3rd party apps
  • Silent alarm
  • Body IQ technology
  • Water resistant to 5 ATM
