Polar M400 Smarts Up

If you’ve been contemplating whether to change from a Polar M400 to an Apple Watch for the smart phone notifications, there’s no need to anymore. Polar heard you and has implemented smart phone notifications for the iOS platform.

Users can choose to receive the notification display on screen in full or simply have the Polar M400 notify them of the notifications. Polar has also implemented a “Do Not Disturb” feature that allows all notifications to be shut off for a fixed period of time.

Depending on the user setting, the notification will appear in the form of a soft sound or have it appear on the display silently.

According to Polar, the fragmentation of the Android platform in terms of Bluetooth interoperability is the main reason why Android users are not getting this feature. (Do i hear the Android users screaming in anguish?)

With in-built GPS, heart rate zone training, 24/7 activity tracking and a whole list of other features including smart phone notifications, the Polar M400 is officially our mid-range training companion pick.

The RRP is $199.95, without the heart rate monitor strap, but you can usually get it cheaper at Amazon.
