Polar M400 receives Android smart notifications and feature updates

By Michael S • October 24, 2015 • News

It is no secret that Android usually receives feature updates later than iOS users. But late doesn’t mean never. Just 2 days back, Polar enabled smart notifications for the Polar M400 Android device users and with it, a few software upgrades to enhance user training experience.

List of updates for Android users:

  • Smart notifications
  • See burned calories and travelled distance on a paused screen during training sessions.
  • Backlight can be turned off
  • Countdown to interval training with audio beeps

To enable the features, users will need to update the Polar M400 via Polar FlowSync.

The Polar M400 is a competitively priced GPS fitness watch that ranks highly in terms of functions and usability.

While Polar has been outpaced by Garmin in terms of device release count, it recently announced the A360 and we can safely assume its success should herald the arrival of a more advanced GPS watch tracker with wrist based heart rate monitoring capabilites.
