Polar Loop 2 Activity Tracker

Polar has just released an improved version of their classic Polar Loop activity tracker band. The new band, called Polar Loop 2, looks identical to the original band but don’t be fooled, there are 2 new features that make the Polar Loop 2 activity tracker something you might consider if you’re shopping for an activity tracker.

What differentiates the Polar Loop 2 from the original Polar Loop is the inclusion of a vibration motor and its usage. Polar has added an inactivity alert which causes the Polar Loop 2 to vibrate if the user has been inactive for 55 minutes. As to why 55 minutes I’m speculating it’s just 5 minutes shy of an hour.

The other feature is the presence of smart phone notifications. The Polar Loop 2 will vibrate when there are incoming calls, messages or calender alerts on the connected smart phone device. Given the simplicity of the LED display, don’t expect the Polar Loop 2 to display an entire message though.

Coupled with the trustworthy Polar H7 chest worn heart rate monitor, the user can expect to get more out of their training besides the basic HR readings.

List of features:

  • Tracks steps, distance, calories and sleep
  • Pairs with Polar H7 heart rate monitor
  • Vibration enabled
  • Smart phone notifications
  • Inactivity alert
  • Displays activity guide and benefits
  • 8 days battery life, rechargeable

Interestingly there seem to be 2 versions, one with a silicon wristband and another with of TPU make. (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) A rechargeable 38 mAh Li-pol battery promises 8 days of usage with an hour of tracking.

Together with the Polar V800, M400, A300 and now the Polar Loop 2, it seems Polar is keen to have every pocket of the market covered. Well it’s good news for consumers.

The Polar Loop 2 is available in white, pink and black at a recommended retail price of $119.95.
