Activity trackers released in 2013 were mostly confined to tracking of your steps to tabulate your activity level for the day. Enter 2014 and the playing field has changed. Step count? that’s so passe. How about cadence, running impact and even stride length. Mind you, these were information you couldn’t have tracked without wearing multiple gadgets on your body. And that is exactly what Moov claims to do, and more.
Moov employs 9-axis sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer) to track your activities. Based on your data, the Moov app will provide personalised feeback and advice, even in real time.
For real time coaching feedback to take place, Moov has to be used within range of a paired mobile device with the exception of swimming; it’s the only activity that Moov will track as a standalone device. The developers at Moov plans to enable the fitness tracker to function as a standalone tracking device for more activities in future.
Moov is certified IP67. This means it’s dust proof and water resistant up to 1m for 30 minutes. Currently Moov supports select iOS devices only. Support for Android is promised 3 months after the release of the Moov fitness tracker. Unfortunately there’s no mention of support for Windows based mobile devices.
The Moov is priced at $120 for one, $200 for a pair. It is available in black and white for now.Pre-order prices are lower but the promotion is ending soon. Read more here.
