The new Magellan Echo Fit with the Magellan Bluetooth heart rate monitor strap. The Echo Fit is available in black, pink, gray and blue.

Magellan, the company more known for its GPS products, has released a second Smart Sports Watch, the Magellan Echo Fit. Following up on the success of the Echo, the new Echo Fit adds 24/7 activity tracking with a respectable 4-8 months of battery life on a single CR2032 coin battery.

Like the predecessor, the Echo Fit will stream real time app data from your smart phones as well as the capability to remotely control your apps or music right from your wrist. Current compatible apps include Strava, MapMyRun, MapMyRide, MapMyHike, Wahoo Fitness, iSmoothRun, iMobileIntervals, AllTrails, Golf Pad, RunKeeper (in September 2014) and more.
Some of the features of the Echo Fit:

  • Real time sports data stream from app on smart phone
  • Remotely control select apps and music on smartphone
  • Compatible with numerous sports apps.
  • Activity tracking (Steps,  distance, calories and sleep duration).
  • Everyday watch function (Time, alarm, stopwatch).
  • Water resistant (heavy rain and shower, not swimming).
  • Customization (Varying of watch faces from analog to digital).
  • Runs on a single CR 2032 coin battery.
  • Compatible with iphone 4S and later, select Android phones with Android 4.4 and later.

The Echo Fit does not have GPS capability so you won’t be able to track your routes and trails if you run without your smart phones. However as a stand alone Smart Sports Watch, the Echo Fit is still able to track your step count, distance and calories burned, plus your sleep duration and patterns.

EchoFitFeatures

The Echo Fit displays real time data from select apps while your smart phone is neatly tucked away.

Throw in a compatible Bluetooth heart rate monitor strap for some serious training and you’ve got everything you need to go from flab to fab. Now all you need is a running belt to hold your smart phones.

The new Magellan Echo Fit will be available in September 2014 at the recommended price of $149.99 The Echo Fit with compatible heart rate monitor strap bundle goes for $199.99 Read more here.
