Improve your Golf Game with the new Garmin Approach S20, G10 and Tru Swing Sensor

By Michael S • January 31, 2016 • News

Garmin has been known to release its line of products in waves. You don’t just get a single product but variations, be it functions or colours, designed to cater to as many interested buyers as possible. That same philosophy is now applied to the Golf game where Garmin announced 3 products designed to improve your golf game.

Approach G10 – Small but functional

Designed to be worn on the belt with a built in clip, the compact Approach G10 comes equipped with a high sensitivity GPS and is pre-loaded with 40000 golf courses around the world. Promising lifetime updates without a need for subscription fees, golfers can access information such as yardage and green view right from the 1.3″ sunlight readable display.

List of features:

  • High sensitivity GPS
  • Preloaded with 40000 golf courses
  • Lifetime updates with no additional fee
  • Access information such as distance to sand traps, water hazards
  • Functions as digital score card with data stored on Garmin Connect
  • Built in odometer to see distance covered during each round
  • IPX-7 certified
  • 15 hours battery life in GPS mode

The Approach G10 is available Q1 2016 at the RRP of $129.99

Approach S20 – Activity tracking golf watch

For the golfer who wants more out of his Golf game, the Approach S20 features functions such as all day activity tracking, smart notifications, Autoshot, and is compatible with the TruSwing sensor, an accompanying golf sensor. Think of it as having a personal coach by your side.

With Autoshot round analyzer, each shot’s location and distance is automatically recorded and uploaded to the Garmin Connect mobile app for post game analysis. The S20 can be further augmented by pairing it with the TruSwing sensor that provides in-depth swing metrics.

List of features:

  • High sensitivity GPS
  • Autoshot analyzer
  • Preloaded with 40000 golf courses
  • Lifetime updates with no additional fee
  • Access information such as distance to sand traps, water hazards
  • Functions as digital score card with data stored on Garmin Connect
  • All day activity tracker, tracks steps, distance, calories, sleep
  • Move alerts
  • Smart notifications such as calls, texts and emails
  • 5 ATM water rating
  • 15 hours battery life in GPS mode, 8 weeks in watch mode
  • Compatible with TruSwing sensor

With all day activity tracking and smart notifications, Garmin is making the Approach S20 a watch that is not only designed for golf but for daily wear as well. The Approach S20 is available Q1 2016 at the RRP of $199.99.

TruSwing golf sensor

Tru Swing is not the first golf sensor on the market but it is Garmin’s first attempt at quantifying golf swings. The light weight TruSwing (28 grams) clips to a golf club and transmits recorded data instantly to Garmin Connect which the user can then view on smart phone or tablet to see 3D animations.

Get access to information such as club path, face angle and shaft angle, shaft lean and swing tempo metric to fine tune and improve your swing over time.

Further more, users can side by side swing comparisons or overlay one swing over another for comparison. When connected to an Approach S6 watch, users can further access advanced swing animations such as wrist path data.

The Garmin TruSwing is compatible with Approach S20, S4, S5, S6, G7 and G8. It is available Q1 2016 at the RRP of $149.99.
