Garmin HRM-Tri and HRM-Swim

Garmin is serious about quantifying your training with heart rate. The company just announced 2 new products in the form of the Garmin HRM-Tri and HRM-Swim.

The Garmin HRM Swim is designed for the swimmer in mind. It features anti-slip design with minimal drag; factors important to any decent swimmer. Heart rate (HR) data is stored during swimming and transmitted to connected compatible devices after that. Real-time heart rate and interval summaries are also shown when the HR monitor and compatible watch are out of the water.

For those who are keen on monitoring their HR both in water and on land, there’s the Garmin HRM-Tri. Besides reading HR in water and on land, the HRM-Tri can also provide advanced running dynamics;  including cadence, vertical oscillation and ground contact time.

List of features:

  • 10 months battery for HRM-Tri, 18 month battery for HRM-Tri
  • Stores up to 20 hours of data during swim
  • Forwards data to compatible Garmin device at the end of a session
  • Sends real-time heart rate to Garmin watch when the monitor is out of the water

HRM-Tri and HRM-Swim will begin shipping in Q3 and will be available individually for a suggested retail price of $129.99 and $99.99, respectively, or as an accessory bundle for $199.99. A special edition Forerunner 920XT Tri Bundle will also be available, which includes a black/silver Forerunner 920XT, HRM-Tri, HRM-Swim and quick release kit, for a suggested retail price of $599.99.
