Garmin Forerunner 25

By Michael S • August 6, 2015 • News

Fenix 3, Epix, Forerunner 225, HRM-Tri and HRM Swim underwater heart rate monitors, Vivoactive, Vivofit 2, two GPS bike computers and more. That’s the number of products Garmin has pushed out in the last 8 months just on health, fitness and sports.  If you’re still not convinced Garmin is serious about increasing their share of the fitness tracker pie, they just gave you one more reason to; the Garmin Forerunner 25.

The Forerunner 25 is marketed as a 24/7 activity tracker with GPS and smart phone notification functions. The other killer feature is the availability of the “Live Tracking” function which allows runners to share their workouts in real time with their friends and family. The Forerunner 25 also has a 32% larger screen display and thinner watch unit than its predecessor the Garmin Forerunner 15.

List of features:

  • Tracks steps, distance, pace, calories, personal records, sleep
  • Audio beeps for notifications and alarms
  • Pairs with compatible heart rate monitor for HR recording
  • Connects with compatible foot pod
  • GPS enabled
  • Inactivity notification
  • Smart phone notifications
  • Virtual Pacer (Compares current pace to target pace)
  • Live tracking
  • Water resistant to 50m
  • Lengthy battery life (8 or 10 weeks)

Though there are a myriad of colours to choose from, the black/red, black/blue colours are for the larger display, and black/purple and white/pink for the smaller face Forerunner 25. Battery life is advertised as 10 weeks or 10 hours in training mode for the larger face Forerunner 25, and 8 weeks or about 8 hours of training mode for the smaller face Forerunner 25.

The Forerunner 25 is expected to ship in Q3 2015 and will have a suggested retail price of $169.99 or $199.99 bundled with a heart rate monitor. Read more here.
