The new Garmin Approach X40 looks near identical to the Vivosmart HR except that it’s designed for the golfer in mind. Even though Garmin just released the Approach S20 and G10 a quarter back, it has not stopped the company from pushing out new ware termly. We’re not complaining.
Interestingly Garmin’s newest offering should leave us wondering if there might be room for a Vivosmart HR with GPS capabilities before the end of 2016.
Backed by Garmin’s tested and proven Elevate heart rate monitoring tech, also available in Forerunner 235, Fenix 3 HR and Vivosmart HR, the Approach X40 is Garmin’s smallest GPS enabled tracker that allows users to combine golf stats with all day activity tracking and heart rate data.
The Approach X40 is also compatible with Garmin’s Truswing golf club sensor that was released at the beginning of 2016. When paired, it allows users to access swing metrics and 3D animations in real time on the Garmin Connect mobile app.
When used on the golf courses, the Approach X40 functions as a digital scorecard. When the Autoshot feature is enabled, users will be able to record and track data such as average distance for each golf club and even longest drive per round. The X40 comes pre-loaded with data from 40,000 golf courses around the world.
