Amiigo is one of few promising fitness tracking devices to successfully complete their campaign for funds on Indiegogo. It was in 2013 and i remember how in awe i was after seeing what the product promised. Fast forward a year, I still follow their blog religiously hoping for updates or even news of completion and shipping. Amiigo is a fitness tracker consisting of a bracelet and a shoe clip that work together.
Recently, the company provided an update demonstrating how the Amiigos fitness bracelet and tracker “learn” activities. It seems all that is required is to provide a name for the activity you hope Amiigos can learn, perform the activity for Amiigos to learn and voila! You can read more about it here. This is a move away from traditional fitness tracking devices where the algorithm for exercises or activities are pre-loaded unto the devices.
Atlas, a fitness tracker from Atlas Wearables currently campaigning on Indiegogo, peddles something similar to what Amiigo claims to do and aims to deliver by December 2014. With every passing month, new fitness trackers enter and establish a foothold in the market. I’m keeping my fingers crossed Amiigo delivers really soon.
