FIT SMART comes in two colours. Black and Translucent White.

Adidas has announced a new addition to their stable of wearables; the miCoach FIT SMART. The FIT SMART was conceptualised as a device that will accurately measure exercise intensity and provide personalised coaching to help the wearer reach his exercise goals when coupled with the miCoach TRAIN AND RUN app.

Following in the foot steps of the Adidas miCoach SMART RUN, the FIT SMART is also a piece of wearble that touts heart rate monitoring without the need for a chest strap. The key lies in leveraging on Mio’s wrist based optical heart rate technology.

The FIT SMART is not meant to be an all day activity tracker so you won’t be seeing the ubiquitous step and sleep tracking common in other trackers, nor does it have GPS functions compared to the adidas miCoach SMART RUN. The real strength of the FIT SMART lies in supporting the wearer during an exercise routine.

Besides real time heart rate monitoring, the FIT SMART also tracks speed, pace and even stride length; a function usually done with the addition of dedicated devices such as foot pods. According to the FIT SMART FAQ, pace and distance can be tracked with up to 95% accuracy by FIT SMART. A calibration tool is further provided to improve accuracy.

Intensity is indicated by a LED pipe on the side of the watch that communicates increasing  intensity level with blue, green, yellow and red LED. The addition of vibration alert also serves as a form of haptic feedback to the wearer during exercise.

Here’s a summary of some of the adidas miCoach FIT SMART features:

  • Available in Black and Translucent White
  • Soft silicon strap
  • Accelerometer that measure speed, pace , stride rate and distance
  • Optical heart rate sensor
  • LED pipe indicating intensity level
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • Vibration
  • Internal memory stores up to 10 hours of workout
  • Lasts up to 5 days on a single charge, assuming daily workout of 1 hour.
  • 200 mAh lithium ion battery
