The wearables scene has been abuzz since the recall of the Fitbit Force early this year with some consumers holding out, moi included, for the release of the caller ID feature which never came. Then came the rumours of new Fitbit trackers with names like Surge, Pulse and Charge. Now marketing materials obtained by Gizmodo has revealed the closest look at what appears to be the new Fitbit trackers.
Features of the Fitbit Charge (extracted from picture)
- Tracks steps, distance, calories burned
- Displays stats, time, caller ID
- Monitors sleep quality
- Silent vibrating alarm
- Water resistant
Features of the Fitbit Charge HR (extracted from picture)
- PurePulse continuous wrist based heart rate for better calorie tracking and cardio training
- Tracks steps, distance, calories burned, floors climbed, active minutes and 24/7 heart rate
- Use with MobileRun on the Fitbit app to see run stats
- Displays activity + run stats, time and caller ID
- Monitors sleep quality
- silent vibrating alarm
- Water resistant
The new Fitbit trackers appear similar to the recalled Fitbit Force. The only noticeable difference seems to be the strap; both the clasp and the surface of the strap.
The leaked marketing materials also added that there’s 24/7 heart rate monitoring based on “PurePulse” technology. Throw in water resistant, caller ID and we have a Fitbit Force on steriods, hopefully with none of the skin allergy reactions.
With the mounting net buzz, it shouldn’t be long before we see an official announcement from Fitbit.
