Asus Vivowatch

By Michael S • May 1, 2015 • News

Asus announced their fitness focused fitness tracker last month, the Asus Vivowatch. Featuring 24/7 activity tracking, built in heart rate sensors, IP67 rating, and smart watch notifications, the Asus Vivowatch appears to have checked all the boxes in the fitness watch wish list save for GPS function. Idle alerts through vibration and UV sensor are icing on the cake.

The 128 x 128 corning gorilla glass 3 touch enabled display pairs with a LED indicator light that flashes green or red depending on heart rate levels during physical activities.  Asus VivoPulse technology powers the LED optical sensors that allow the Asus Vivowatch to detect and accurately measure heart rate.

The scourge of fitness trackers with smart watch functions has always been battery lifespan. Daily charging seems like a chore too tedious to fathom even though we charge our mobile devices every single day; the irony of first world problems. The Asus Vivowatch blows that problem out of the water with roughly 10 days worth of usage before a charge is required.

List of features:

  • Tracks steps, sleep, calories burnt
  • 24/7 continuous heart rate monitoring
  • Aerobic heart rate LED indicator light that flashes green or red based on activity intensity levels.
  • UV index reading
  • Smart phone notifications
  • Vibration enabled
  • 10 days battery life
  • IP67 rating
  • Happiness index based on sleep and exercise measurements
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • Works on both Android and iOS platform
  • Customisable watch face.

Other than the  aerobic LED indicator lights and customisable watch face, the Asus Vivowatch appears near similar to the Basis Peak in terms of functions.

There’s no confirmation on the pricing  and availability of the Asus Vivowatch as yet.
