Check out GadFit’s Adidas Fit Smart review here.
If you’re sill using the Adidas Fit Smart, it’s time to breathe new life into the device. When I reviewed the fitness tracker more than a year back, I personally thought it was a waste that an excellent device was relegated to a training specific tool rather than an all day activity tracker. A year later, that update has arrived.
While the Adidas Fit Smart still does not track sleep duration and quality, it has got your daily activities pretty much covered in terms of step count. Armed with optical heart rate sensors from Mio Global, the same company that also provided hardware to Garmin’s Forerunner 225, the Adidas Fit Smart can measure heart rate and estimates distance based on the in built accelerometer so there’s no need to tether a smart phone during workouts; though you still can for access to more functions.
Amidst the throng of new devices streaming into the market, is it too late for Adidas? The German company still has a substantial presence in the wearable tech scene with its miCoach Speedcell, Smart ball, Smart Run and X-cell. Perhaps this is also a direct response to Polar’s A360 that also features wrist based heart rate measurements sans GPS functions. Enabling activity tracking in the Adidas Fit Smart give it a new lease of life, even if it’s a short one. In all honesty, it would have been great had the update arrived earlier.
Can we expect smart notifications on the Adidas Fit Smart any time soon? One can only wonder.
